Lakeville master plan committee approves draft summary of Oct. 6 housing and economic development workshop

The Town of Lakeville Master Plan Implementation Committee voted unanimously to approve the draft summary report of the Oct. 6 land-use, housing and economic development workshop at its Jan. 8 meeting.

The committee approved the draft after a brief review of the report’s contents, which consultant Jed Kronagh of Servant described as including the workshop presentation, a spreadsheet of public comments and the tally of votes taken during the event. "The report has quite a lengthy appendix," Kronagh said, noting the appendix contains the presentation materials, collected comments and the recorded votes.

Committee members emphasized that the draft consolidates community input gathered at the Oct. 6 workshop and during outreach since the discovery workshop. Kronagh said two themes were added to the plan’s main themes based on that input: support for a greater variety of housing for residents and the need to hire professional staff to guide future development and economic activity. Committee members asked staff to finalize the document for posting; a member confirmed the report is already on the project website in draft form and will be updated to the final version.

Motion and vote: a committee member moved to approve the draft report; another member seconded. Committee members responded "aye," and the chair announced the motion carried unanimously.

The committee also discussed related project resources — Kronagh reminded members that a separate contract for drone imagery had about $300 remaining that could be used before the master-plan update process concludes. Members left a decision on additional drone imagery for later in the process.

The finalized summary will be posted on the master plan project website and used as part of outreach materials ahead of the next themed workshops and public events.
