Sierra Vista sets Oktoberfest Sept. 12-13, 'Love Unleashed' pet adoption Sept. 13 and Vineyards in the Park Oct. 4

Adam Curtis, communications manager for the city of Sierra Vista, told KWCD listeners the city’s fall event schedule will include a range of family and community activities.
The 29th annual Oktoberfest will be held Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 13 in Veterans Memorial Park, with Sun Valley Rides operating a carnival through Sunday, Sept. 14. New this year is an Oktoberfest 5K on Saturday morning; runners can register at Active.com and use a post-race beer or root-beer ticket to join a pre-Oktoberfest tent party. Curtis said organizers expanded German-beer offerings after selling out last year and named several beers to be available.
Oktoberfest will include evening live music with headliner 0 Gravity Fighters, a Steinholding contest, a keg-rolling contest, a German/English story time with the library and Bavarian hat and jewelry-making workshops. Curtis provided times: Friday, Sept. 12, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 13, 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The Nancy J. Brewer Animal Care Center will host “Love Unleashed — a Bark Bash at the Park” on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Tompkins Park dog areas to facilitate supervised play groups and adoption discounts; the shelter opens at noon that day, Curtis said, and attendees may be eligible for adoption discounts.
Art in the Park, hosted by the Huachuca Art Association, will include the Vineyards in the Park wine sampling event on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; sampling tickets are available on Eventbrite, Curtis said, with an advance price of $25 and $30 at the gate.
Curtis encouraged residents to follow the city’s website (sierravista.gov) and social media and mentioned a printed city newsletter with more event details.
