Humboldt County supervisors approve staffing and administrative items; set follow-up on DD 11 drainage work

Appointments and staffing
The board approved hiring Scott Burch as deputy sheriff; his first day was listed as Aug. 4. Emergency action plan

Drainage district hearing
At a separate, more substantive hearing (DD 11 Sub 1), the board accepted an amended engineer's report and directed the engineer to produce plans and specifications with both reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) and HDPE options and with designs for both a 0.5-inch and a 1.0-inch drainage coefficient. The board requested a preclassification estimate based on those plans within roughly two weeks and continued the public hearing and reclassification to Aug. 4, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
Other routine actions
The supervisors approved the meeting agenda and minutes from July 14 by voice vote and granted a short bid/auction review for county surplus vehicles (bids were read aloud during the meeting; no final sale action was recorded in the minutes). The meeting concluded with committee reports and an adjournment vote.
