County officials discussed a request to use county opioid‑related funds to cover detox fees for residents who lack the means to pay while undergoing a detox program in regional facilities.
A county health partner had proposed routing some costs through local opioid funds to avoid a situation in which residents complete detox services and county providers are later billed. The county’s public‑health contact said they are still assembling precise figures and that the number of cases varies; one supervisor said the county currently designates roughly $10,000 a year from an opioid fund for local services, but the full requested amount for regional detox support had not been finalized.
Separately, county representatives reported progress on a Good Neighbors project to create a consolidated community calendar by aggregating events from multiple local websites; staff said the calendar is functioning in testing and a release date is pending. The board was also reminded that a mobile food pantry is scheduled next Thursday, the 14th, at 4:30 p.m.
No formal action was taken at the meeting on opioid‑fund requests; staff said they would identify current balances and return with specific proposals for line‑item funding and possible budget treatment.
