The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors set 9 a.m. on the 18th as the date to score a proposed new hog facility under the state’s master matrix for livestock siting.
County staff said the DNR has already scored the application and that the board must complete its own scoring within the required public‑notice timeframe. The record shows the application packet will be advertised in the county paper within two weeks to allow public comment. County staff also said a site visit with county staff, DNR representatives and company representatives (identified in the packet as Pinnacle and Summit/Summit Farms) is scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow at the location identified near Rose Avenue and 120th Street.
Staff reported the application currently scores at about 480 points; county staff said a score of about 440 points is the threshold it needs to meet to pass the matrix. Supervisors and staff discussed the short schedule requested by the applicant and agreed to meet to complete the board scoring at the set date and time.
The board approved a motion to reschedule the scoring session for the 18th at 9 a.m.; the motion carried by voice vote. The formal approval or denial of the application will occur at that meeting after the board reviews the DNR scoring and completes the county’s master matrix evaluation.
