Tax office reports August venue and short‑term rental collections; monthly total $288,617.69

Jasmine Sanchez of the Lubbock County Tax Office presented August collections for the county’s venue and short-term rental taxes to Commissioners Court on Sept. 8.
Sanchez reported $202,873.55 collected for “hotel” categories (paid by 139 payors) and $85,744.14 for the other category (paid by 11 payors), bringing the monthly total to $288,617.69. For the fiscal year through Aug. 31 she reported $2,144,890.16 for hotel collections and $761,418.53 for the other category, with penalties of $5,841.11 and $723.50 respectively, for a combined fiscal-year total of $2,912,873.30 (up about 1% from last fiscal year’s $2,889,819.89).
Sanchez told commissioners the total deposited into the venue bank account through Aug. 31 is $21,482,797.78; total disbursements were $7,910,640.62, leaving a balance of $13,572,157.16. Commissioners did not ask substantive follow-up questions during the presentation and no action was required; the report was received for the record.
