Lubbock County Commissioners Court on Sept. 8 adopted a Lubbock County Hospital District tax rate of 0.09966 per $100 of taxable value for tax year 2025 and approved the district's fiscal year 2026 budget after a public hearing that drew no public speakers.
The action followed a public hearing on the Hospital District budget and tax rate. With no members of the public signed up to speak, the court closed the hearing and moved to action. Commissioner Shaw moved to approve the tax rate; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Rackler and carried unanimously. The court then voted to approve the hospital district’s FY26 budget on a motion by Commissioner Rackler, seconded by Commissioner Corley; that motion also passed.
The tax rate approved — 0.09966 per $100 taxable value — was described at the meeting as the district’s no-new-revenue rate for the district’s request. The budget was presented to the court by Mr. Funderburk, who was in attendance for the district; no substantive questions were recorded during the court’s consideration.
The votes formalize county approval required for the district’s budget and set the rate to be used in tax bills for the hospital district portion of property tax statements for 2025. No amendments or conditions to the hospital district budget or rate were recorded in the meeting minutes.
