Facilities committee reviews summer projects, security upgrades and trial traffic pattern at Conshohocken Elementary

The Colonial School District facilities and transportation committee received a broad recap of summer capital and maintenance projects, including security upgrades, LED lighting retrofits, sidewalk leveling around Conshohocken Elementary School (CES), and repairs across several schools.
Facilities staff member Mister Lally led the presentation and described routine and capital maintenance completed over the summer. He said crews inspected fire extinguishers, kitchen hood systems, sprinkler systems and defibrillators; installed and aimed cameras; and completed wiring and receiver work for a districtwide digital radio program that the presentation said is about 90% complete.
Lally reported that 187 cameras were added to ZeroEyes and that the district has "roughly around 400 licenses for ZeroEyes," and that staff installed 11 additional cameras at the middle school stair towers using grant funding. He described a 210-linear-foot sidewalk lifting project at Conshohocken Elementary to remove a tripping hazard and said LED lighting was installed where it had been missed in earlier work.
On campus security, Lally said the district continues to add key-fob access where feasible because "if someone leaves or loses it, we shut it off. We don't have to worry about who finds it." He also highlighted in-house work: carpet replacements, installing tile in an art room, stage repairs, cabinet refacing, masonry and waterproofing, HVAC amp-draw checks and refrigerant inspections, and a repair of a broken 4-inch water main at one school.
Lally described a trial change to arrival and dismissal traffic flow at CES designed to reduce cars on Colonial Drive: the first right onto Colonial is now a do-not-enter/restricted approach so vehicles enter and circulate around the baseball/Germantown Pike side and exit the other side; buses are routed to a separate lane to allow simultaneous egress. "So far, it's only been obviously a short trial, but it's been productive so far at the site," Lally said.
Board participants thanked facilities staff and noted the CES gym and admin-area projects were on track; one committee member said the CES project was "on time and under budget." Lally also credited individual staff members for daily construction oversight. He said most roofing work across three schools was complete with minimal remaining metal work and that HVAC and roofing projects identified in the five-year capital plan are moving forward.
The committee did not take formal action; staff said planned items from the five-year capital list and grant-funded security installations will continue into the school year.
