Chair Gibbs explained the item originated from county and town associations and that the topic resurfaces periodically as Congress considers transportation reauthorization. Committee members discussed whether signatories on prior letters represented full county boards or individual supervisors; Supervisor Dickinson said he preferred a united, full‑board position rather than signatures from individual members.
Gibbs said he would present the letter on behalf of the Marathon County Board if the full board chose to support it. The committee’s motion to recommend approval was made by Supervisor Johnson and seconded by Supervisor Dickinson; the committee voted unanimously to forward the letter to the county board.
No further conditions or amendments were recorded in committee; the matter will be considered by the full county board.
