Commissioners approve SolusGuard panic-button subscription for human-services staff

The Lyon County Board of Commissioners approved a subscription agreement Sept. 4 between the county and SolusGuard to purchase discreet panic-button devices and an annual subscription for staff safety.
Sheila Holmes, director of Lyon County Human Services, said the pocket-sized devices can be worn as a bracelet, necklace or attached to a lanyard and will notify county offices first and then 911 if staff activate them during community visits. Holmes said the devices will be used by staff who conduct unaccompanied field visits in behavioral-health or crisis situations and that the devices will be funded through grants (FY26 Helping Nevada Respite and SAMSHA youth funding).
The board approved the subscription agreement for $22,074.35 and authorized the human-services director to sign. The item was on the consent agenda; the board approved the consent agenda (items 10a'm) earlier in the meeting by a 5-0 vote.
Why it matters: The devices provide an added safety measure for staff conducting community and home-based visits who may face behavioral-health risks.
No additional conditions were attached to the vote.
