The Churchill County Board of Commissioners adopted two joint proclamations Aug. 28 and approved a community support funding request for a downtown event.
Shannon Ernst of Churchill County Social Services presented a joint proclamation with the City of Fallon declaring September 2025 as Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. Ernst described plans to close a portion of Main Street on Sept. 12 for a 5 p.m. kickoff featuring a proclamation reading, fountain-dying ceremony, resource booths and mindfulness activities. The board adopted the joint proclamation and supported the community event; a commissioner will be asked to read the proclamation at the kickoff.
Chris Cross, representing libraries, presented a joint proclamation encouraging residents to sign up for library services, noting librariesroles in education, digital access and lifelong learning. The board adopted the joint proclamation declaring September 2025 as Library Sign-Up Month.
The board also approved community support funding of $1,307.49 to the Fallon Community Theater to support Main Streets Spooktacular event on Oct. 31, 2025. County staff noted the amount reflects a reduced miscellaneous fund allocation this fiscal year.
All three motions passed on voice votes.
