Commission approves Lonesome Duck Ranch sending-site application and awards 93 transfer-development rights

The Churchill County Board of Commissioners approved a sending-site application Aug. 28 from Lonesome Duck Ranch LLC and authorized 93 transfer-development rights for two parcels totaling 156 acres.
Randy Hynes, Public Works planning and building staff, told the board the parcels meet the county code minimums under Chapter 16.14 and that the sending-site review committee and the planning commission recommended approval. Hynes also noted part of the property lies within an accident potential zone near a military base runway and that the Navy opposed prior attempts to subdivide the parcel into 10-acre lots.
A motion to approve the sending-site application and to grant 93 TDRs passed on a voice vote.
The boards action preserves farmland and associated surface water rights and authorizes the TDRs to be recorded as specified in the application.
