The Aurora East USD 131 finance and personnel committee received a report Sept. 2 on several community donations that district staff said will support students at three elementary schools.
In opening remarks to the committee, a staff member reported that donors gave seven backpacks and school supplies to Dietrich Elementary from the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry and 28 backpacks via the district's student tracker program. Staff also reported 250 cookie rewards from Chick-fil-A Oswego for students at Bardwell Elementary and paint, furniture and general supplies from Calvary Church and school supplies from Old National Bank for Oak Park Elementary.
The committee's packet listed the donations as informational items; no formal action was taken. Committee members voiced appreciation for the community contributions during the meeting.
The donations were presented as-in-kind support for students; the committee did not discuss any related budgetary allocations or long-term program changes at the meeting. Staff indicated the items would be distributed through the schools named, and the report concluded with no follow-up tasks specified.
