Organizers said New Hope Pet Rescue will offer low-cost immunizations and heartworm testing for Eaton County residents, and volunteers from a neighboring county's animal-control friends group donated 300 microchips that will be distributed free that day. The event will include nail trims with proof of rabies vaccination, pet photos, a costume contest, a painting-with-paws activity and a dog-kissing booth. Central Dispatch will bring a vehicle mascot called Hutch and the parks department will host a family fun zone. Organizers said some vendor spots and volunteer slots remain available and encouraged donations and sponsorships.
The announcement emphasized the event is family-friendly and open to area residents; attendees must keep pets on a leash. No fundraising totals or budget figures were provided in the announcement.
