Organizers of 'Echoes from the Past' ask for volunteers and sponsorships after successful debut

Organizers of the Echoes from the Past historical production told the Emery County Commission on Sept. 2 that this year’s debut featured about 60 participants, vignettes drawn from local family histories and performances connected to the county fair, and that planners are seeking volunteers and potential sponsorships for a larger 2026 production.

What organizers said: Patsy Stoddard, an organizer, said the production included singers, dancers, a Glee Club rendition of the national anthem and historical vignettes about local families and sites. She said a planning meeting is scheduled for Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. at the county administration building for next year’s production and invited those with family stories or local folklore to contribute. Stoddard said the production is posted on YouTube and organizers handed out participant prizes this year.

Commission comment: Commissioners and staff praised volunteers and asked whether additional funding might be considered during the county budget process; one commissioner noted props and stage expenses were higher than expected. Organizers requested help with stage crew, props and fact‑checking stories where appropriate.

What’s next: Organizers will hold the Sept. 22 planning meeting and asked interested residents to contact them to volunteer or submit stories.
