Chief Deputy Dyson Savage explained the request to add positions had been discussed during the budget process and that staff brought the item to the HR meeting so commissioners could request additional detail. Commissioners asked for concrete workload figures: number of parcels assigned per appraiser, current overtime usage, how many staff are still in training and whether efficiency would improve in the next three to six months.
Savage said the original budget paperwork listed a request for three positions but that the assessor's office would be comfortable bringing the request back as one position if the board preferred. The board asked assessor staff to return with the requested data and authorized Commissioner Duncan to lead follow-up on the item.
