Valerius City School Board approves treasurer items; schedules five-year forecast and notes levy issue number

The Valerius City School Board on Sept. 3 approved treasurer-recommended items including student activity purpose statements, startup cash for fiscal year 2026 and acknowledgement of several donations.

Treasurer Colleen Abholt asked the board to "approve the student activity purpose statements for the district as detailed below, to approve the startup cash for a $125 for the PAC and $300 for the treasurer's office for fiscal year 26, And to acknowledge and express appreciation for the following donations from the House of Healing, the Nordson Foundation, Community Faith, Ridge Tools, and Gregory Trucking." The board voted and the motion carried.

The treasurer also said the district will present a five-year forecast at the next board meeting on Sept. 17 and noted that Elyria City was assigned levy issue number 17. "Elyria received this issue number and we're issued 17 for the levy," she said. The treasurer said the five-year forecast will be put on for approval because it is due in October for the current calendar year budget changes announced by the governor.

Board President Elaine Seguin called the roll for the treasurer items and the vote was unanimous among members present.

Why it matters: startup cash and approved student-activity statements set routine fiscal operations for clubs and activities; the five-year forecast is the district's primary tool for planning against projected revenues and expenditures. The levy issue number was noted by the treasurer as an administrative step related to levy processing.

The board had no presentations and moved on to superintendent and personnel items after approving the treasurer recommendations.
