Margate commissioners approve sludge-disposal contracts, police wage memorandum and new youth uniforms; waive donation limit

Pricing listed in the resolution is $46.50 per cubic yard and $13.95 per load, with an initial four-year term and one two-year renewal period and the same renewal-authority language.

- Police wages: The commission approved a memorandum of understanding between the City of Margate and the Broward County Police Benevolent Association providing competitive wages for members covered by the collective bargaining agreements for the period Oct. 1, 2024 through Sept. 30, 2027.

- Youth athletics uniforms: The commission approved a waiver of competitive bidding to purchase uniforms from Challenger Teamwear for the 2025 fall season, with a not-to-exceed amount of $36,203 plus a 10% contingency.

- Donation-waiver motion: The commission voted to waive the city’s policy limit on individual donations (normally $500) to permit a $1,000 donation to a Margate family that recently experienced a homicide-related loss.
