Palo Duro renovation: offices, courtyard and restaurant work nearly complete; grease trap and pool renovation next

Parks and Recreation Director Jessica Kume briefed the council on the Palo Duro park renovation and restaurant project. Kume said four office suites are complete and ready for lease, the courtyard repaving is finished, and the restaurant’s HVAC units, exterior ramp and new windows have been installed. She showed council photos of the renovated interior, courtyard and pool area design.
Remaining tasks include installing a 1,500-gallon grease trap, completing the fire alarm and gas-line connections, and then beginning pool renovations. Kume said the city has procured the grease trap and public-works crews, electricians and contracted pool specialists are coordinated to begin the pool work once the grease trap is set in place. She said the restaurant space will be leased under a city contract (staff to issue an RFP template and legal review), while the city will retain management of the pool and office space.
Council members asked about fundraising and private support for the driving range/park features, and Kume and the city manager said a local nonprofit booster group will focus on fundraising for driving-range improvements and ancillary park amenities while the city retains operational control of the pool.
