The Office of Historic Preservation announced a new Preservation Academy course during the Sept. 3 meeting of the San Antonio Historic and Design Review Commission. The in‑person session will take place in this meeting room on the morning of Sept. 20 and is free to the public; staff said attendees can register via the SA SPEAKUP website and that coffee and light snacks will be provided.
Commission staff described the academy as a series of educational classes intended to help property owners, permit applicants and others understand the city’s preservation policies and permit processes. The announcement noted the academy is part of the city’s policy to provide training for those who work with permits and historic resources.
Robin Foster, representing the Monticello Neighborhood Association’s review committee, relayed community interest in preservation training during public comment and urged participation.
Staff did not announce a formal curriculum in the meeting; interested participants were directed to the SA SPEAKUP registration page for details and additional virtual opportunities.
