University of Iowa athletic‑training agreement remains unsigned; district receiving services under interim arrangement

Staff said typical gameday staffing would include one trainer and a team physician; at a recent game an additional intern or observer was present.
Board members asked whether trainers accompany teams to away contests; staff said the University of Iowa arrangement does not automatically cover away games and that coaches or host schools may fill coverage roles depending on the opponent’s staffing. Staff also noted that some matchups require on‑site first responders or ambulance presence and that emergency coverage practices vary by venue and opponent.
Staff said they are monitoring the contract’s progress with university legal representatives; the lead signer at the university was identified in staff remarks as Denise Jamieson of the university side. Staff said the district will circulate the final contract to board leadership for review before executing it and that payment had not been made while final legal documents were pending.
