Clinic construction progress, EM preparedness fair turnout and grant work reported to Daggett County Commission

Commissioners heard brief updates on the county clinic construction and emergency management at the Sept. 2 Daggett County Commission meeting.
A county representative reported that construction is progressing and said, “they're putting an elevator shaft, cement in. In fact, it's probably in by now.” That update came during the meeting’s issue-updates segment.
Michelle Miller, who identified herself to the commission as an emergency-management representative, said turnout was strong at recent target days and an EM preparedness fair. “There were a lot of people that came through and a lot of great participation,” Miller said. She said she will meet weekly with Katie and the sheriff to follow up while another staffer is away, and that Katie is monitoring State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) and Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) activity.
Miller also thanked local volunteers and search-and-rescue personnel who assisted with emergency planning for the PRCA Arroyo event; she noted she had reviewed the plan before it was distributed.
Separately, county staff noted work on roads and airport weeds: the road department and Trevor are addressing weeds at the airport to allow a later herbicide treatment. Commissioners also scheduled the clinic’s biweekly construction meeting for the 11th at 10:00 a.m.
No formal action was taken on the clinic construction or the emergency-management grants during the meeting; staff said they will keep the commission updated.
