Road operations staff said the culvert failed as a result of the March 2025 storm and will likely fail again during winter if not replaced. "If we don't replace this now, it is gonna fail this winter," the presenter said, noting the work is considered in‑water work and must be completed before September 15 to meet permitting and seasonal restrictions.
The county noted it intends to pursue FEMA reimbursement for roughly 75% of the cost but requested board authorization to proceed immediately to avoid winter damage. The board awarded the project to LTM Inc. (locally Knife River Materials) on a low quote of $91,625 and authorized the roadmaster to sign the contract upon counsel approval. The motion passed by voice vote.
