Laredo ISD staff notified the Curriculum & Instruction Committee on Sept. 3 that the curriculum, instruction and assessment department plans to procure instructional materials, classroom supplies and testing materials under cooperative contracts at an estimated cost not to exceed $500,000.
Hector Mejia, the department representative, told trustees the contracts are with current vendors and that the request covers materials and equipment for classrooms and district testing. No formal committee vote was taken; staff characterized the item as a routine renewal/authorization to proceed with procurement using existing cooperative contract vehicles.
Trustees asked whether these were recurring vendors; Mejia confirmed they are current contractors the district has used previously. Staff did not provide a vendor list or specific itemized dollar breakdown in the committee presentation; trustees may see a formal purchase authorization at a future board meeting.
