The City of Reno Planning Commission voted unanimously Sept. 3 to recommend that City Council approve a zoning map amendment for LDC26-00001, a parcel north of Orcrest Drive, changing the zoning from Large Lot Residential (1 acre) to Mixed Employment.
Grace Macadine, senior management analyst with Development Services, told the commission the current zoning is nonconforming to the adopted master plan and the proposed Mixed Employment zoning would bring the parcel into conformance. She said several nearby properties have previously been rezoned the same way and noted the change does not authorize specific development; future projects on the site will require a major site-plan review and, depending on the final use, could trigger a conditional use permit that would return to the planning commission.
Commissioner Bassett moved to recommend approval of the zoning map amendment, stating the findings were met; Commissioner Christina Delviar seconded. The commission voted in favor by voice vote; staff noted a simple majority is required for a recommendation to council.
No members of the public requested to speak at the hearing, but staff recorded emailed correspondence that had been entered into the public record. The planning commission’s recommendation sends the item to City Council for final action.
