Hartland board approves fall and winter special events, including drone show and school fireworks

The Village of Hartland Village Board on Sept. 22, 2025, approved multiple special-event and permit requests for the fall and winter season, including a business trick-or-treat night, the Heartland Lights celebration with a drone show, and fireworks permits for Lake Country Lutheran High School.
Elise (executive director of the Heartland Chamber of Commerce) asked the board to approve the business trick-or-treat event and said the Chamber will include a pizza vendor to raise funds. The board approved the event for Oct. 23, 2025; the Chamber will coordinate food-vendor permitting with village staff. Chief Jambritz said the police department plans to staff adult crossing guards and have officers at key intersections; some side roads will be barricaded while main streets remain open.
Marlene (representing the Heartland Business Improvement District) requested approval for Heartland Lights on Dec. 5, 2025, and said the BID had a change in contact person to Stacy Giddings, whose cell number was provided for event coordination. The BID will stage the drones in Nixon Park and expect to fly a show above the municipal parking area; organizers reported a large drone show (about 250 drones) and said the BID funds the production, not village tax money. The board approved Heartland Lights contingent on the usual private-property approvals for the staging area.
Lake Country Lutheran High School principal Catherine Bagans requested fireworks permits for Oct. 3 (homecoming) and Oct. 5 (a memorial run/walk); the board approved both permits after staff confirmed insurance and safety arrangements. Chief Jambritz said prior fireworks at the site have been minimal and that fire department resources will be on hand.
All three event motions carried on voice votes.
