Daughters of the American Revolution outline Constitution Week bell-ringing, Sept. 17 events and fundraiser

At the Sept. 2 meeting, the Sioux Lookout chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) presented the board with plans for Constitution Week and local community activities. Chapter regent Mary Agler and registrar Marie Gurch described the organization’s history in North Platte and outlined upcoming events tied to Constitution Week.
The DAR said local Constitution Week activities will culminate with Bells Across America on Sept. 17; the county event is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. at the courthouse lawn with a program and conclude at 3 p.m. Central with bell-ringing. The chapter also announced a fundraiser to support the DAR Cabin Museum: a Pizza Ranch event on Sept. 8 from 5 to 8 p.m.; gift-card purchases during that time will count toward the chapter’s donation.
The presenters described DAR priorities—historic preservation, education and patriotism—and noted local programs such as scholarships and veteran outreach. Commissioners invited the DAR chapter to participate in the county’s Government Day in April (April 8 was mentioned as a tentative date) to present to school groups; the chapter said it has previously presented to schools and plans to coordinate participation.
The board encouraged DAR members to join a county radio segment “Mugs in the Morning” the day after the meeting to promote the events. The county welcomed the chapter’s display in the courthouse visitors area and thanked the volunteers for organizing educational programs tied to the Constitution Week observance.
