Developer proposes partial revision to Downtown Westfield easement; board agrees to sign prepared instrument

A representative for CRG Development described a plan on Sept. 8 to revise — not fully vacate — a drainage easement in Downtown Westfield to route on-site runoff into a new regional pond.
David George explained the site is south of Park Street along Westfield Boulevard, near the new Westfield Library. He said the project will redirect water that currently flows in a roadside side ditch into a regional pond on the site, and that the easement revision would adjust the recorded legal description only for the portion within the project limits; the remainder of the easement would remain in force.
Surveyor's office staff said they have been working with the developer and are satisfied that the proposed plan “addresses the drainage on-site” and that roadside ditch capacity will no longer be needed at that location. Staff presented a prepared instrument that would require signatures by the Drainage Board and the Board of Commissioners; the board voted to sign and return the document so it can be placed on the commissioners’ agenda.
Board members approved the motion unanimously and signed the prepared document on the record; the county will proceed with the partial easement revision process so long as the legal description matches the plans reviewed by the surveyor’s office.
