Drainage board sets Oct. 27 hearings for two Pulte Homes reconstruction petitions

The Hamilton County Drainage Board on Sept. 8 set public hearings for Oct. 27, 2025, on two petitions from Pulte Homes of Indiana to reconstruct regulated drains in Westfield.

A county staff member told the board the petitions cover reconstruction of the Orris Brindle regulated drain in Kendallwick Section 10 and portions of the Stevens and Clark regulated drain. The staff recommendation was that the board “set a hearing for the proposed reconstruction for 10/27/2025.”

The hearings are the formal step the board uses to receive public comment and examine technical details, including easement impacts, design changes and potential compensation. Staff noted the Orris Brindle item includes easements that “appear to be vacating as the reconstruction goes,” and the surveyor’s office will check whether the county previously purchased any easements that could trigger compensation back to the Drainage Board.

The board approved motions to set the hearings unanimously. No final construction approvals or land acquisitions were made at the Sept. 8 meeting; the items were moved to the Oct. 27 hearing date to allow the surveyor’s review and public notice to proceed.

The hearings will allow property owners, the developer and technical staff to present evidence and testimony before the board decides on authorization and any required compensation or easement changes.
