Commissioners sign ‘part 2’ of Purdue Pharma settlement to enable regional opioid-response funds

Montezuma County commissioners authorized signing "part 2" of the Purdue Pharma settlement on Tuesday, a procedural step county staff said is required for the county and its regional response district to receive settlement disbursements.
County staff described the document as part of the series of settlement documents tied to Purdue Pharma; the board signed an earlier portion several weeks prior. The document will allow the county to participate in the distribution of funds to the regional response entity described in the meeting as "SWORD, combined Southwest OPRD response district." Staff said the payment to the district is not expected to be large.
A motion to sign part two of the Purdue Pharma opioid settlement was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The motion did not allocate county funds; it authorized the county to execute settlement documents that enable the county or its designated regional opioid-response district to receive settlement proceeds under the Purdue Pharma agreements.
