The Scotts Bluff County Board of Commissioners voted 4-0 to approve five special designated liquor licenses for Rosita’s pumpkin patch, commissioners said at their meeting. The board’s action followed a recommendation from the sheriff’s office and an assurance from the applicant that the events are fenced and staff check identification.
The sheriff’s department representative said the office had reviewed the SDL applications and recommended approval. “We have had 0 problems with Rositas, so I’ll recommend approval,” the sheriff’s representative told the board. Applicant Juliana Renteria said the pumpkin‑patch events have run for several years and that organizers take steps to prevent underage alcohol use, including fencing the event area and staffing the entrance. “We do everything that we can to make sure that everybody’s ID’d, so there’s no underage drinking,” Renteria said.
County staff confirmed the five applications were for multiple dates at the same location, described in the application as part of Rosita’s seasonal pumpkin‑patch operation. The board moved and seconded approval; the chair announced the motion carried with four yes votes. Commissioner Meyer was absent.
County staff or the clerk will complete the paperwork and issue the special designated liquor licenses for the submitted dates, county officials said. The application materials on file indicate the event season runs from late September through the last weekend in October each year, though exact dates for each SDL were listed on the submitted applications.
The permits allow alcohol service at temporary outdoor events and are subject to the county’s SDL rules and any conditions the sheriff’s office recommended. No changes to hours, locations, or mitigation measures were announced at the meeting. The board did not attach additional conditions beyond standard SDL requirements.
