Ravena DPW schedules crack sealing for Magnolia Circle; bids expected for fall paving

At the Sept. 2 Ravena Village Board meeting, the Department of Public Works described a pilot crack-sealing project for Magnolia Circle and said bids for several larger paving projects have arrived and will be reviewed this fall.
DPW staff said the Magnolia work will use a hot-tar crack sealing process followed by a sealant application targeted only to cracks rather than a full mill-and-overlay, with signage and single-lane flow during operations. "It's strictly to fix the cracks in the road," the DPW speaker said, adding that the method aims to reduce water infiltration and freeze-thaw damage and extend pavement life.
The board was told larger paving projects planned for completion before winter include Laura Lane, Clearwater Street, Traverse Street and Willis Avenue. DPW staff said curb patching and other repairs have already been underway at several locations and that prices from bidders have arrived; a selection will be made after staff reviews all bids.
Other routine streetwork updates included blacktopping ditch lines on Pulver, Dempster, Railroad and Central and preparatory curb removal on Willis Avenue ahead of paving.
