Burke County appoints two additional participants to citizens academy after spots open

County staff said the first Citizens Academy had more applicants than the originally planned 10 slots; the board previously expanded the class and at the Sept. 2 pre-agenda meeting staff requested approval to add two additional participants, Joseph Winkler and Meg Petit, after one applicant withdrew. The manager told commissioners the class will begin Sept. 11 and that the department can accommodate the expanded roster.
A motion to approve the additions passed without objection; the clerk recorded the vote as 5-0.
