HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — The Harnett County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 2 voted unanimously to approve the published meeting agenda and the consent agenda, approved budget amendments requested by the finance office, and voted to go into closed session to consult on a real-property contract negotiation and a workers' compensation claim.
Commissioners first approved the published agenda by voice vote with no opposition. The board then approved the consent agenda unanimously.
Later in the meeting the county manager asked for approval of budget amendments as requested by the finance office; a motion and second carried unanimously.
A commissioner moved that the board go into closed session to consult with county staff about the county's negotiating position on the proposed acquisition of real property and to consult with legal counsel to preserve the attorney-client privilege regarding the handling of litigation: the workers' compensation claim Amanda Dunn v. County of Harnett, file number 23-011193. The motion cited North Carolina General Statute 143-318.11(a)(5) and (3). The motion to enter closed session carried by voice vote. The board later reconvened and adjourned.
