The Chickasha City Council took a series of formal votes on Aug. 18. Key outcomes recorded in the meeting minutes and on the record are listed below.
- Consent docket — The council approved the consent docket with items A and 4I removed for individual consideration. Council also accepted minutes from the Aug. 18 regular meeting with an instruction to clarify an item under council communications. Outcome: approved (consent docket minus A and 4I).
- Hangar lease agreement for Chickasha Municipal Airport (Item 5I) — Council postponed consideration of a proposed hangar lease agreement indefinitely so staff and the airport advisory board could rewrite and reconcile operational concerns. Outcome: postponed indefinitely (no lease authorized).
- Oil well drilling permit for Comino Resources, Alabaster Cabins 16-21-1 WXH (Item 6a) — Council voted to approve an oil-well drilling permit to be located within city limits. Company representatives stated the permit and associated activity would generate tax revenue and previously paid royalties to the city. Outcome: approved (permit authorized).
- Purchase of ventilators for Fire/EMS (Item 6b) — Council approved purchase of three Hamilton ventilators for Chickasha Fire and EMS for an amount not to exceed $49,500. Staff said the new ventilators replace equipment roughly eight to 10 years old and offer automated monitoring that improves patient care during transfers. Outcome: approved (purchase authorized, amount not to exceed $49,500).
- Planned-unit development / Ordinance 25-09 (Item 6d) — After a public hearing and extended discussion, the council approved Ordinance 25-09 to create a PUD at the northeast corner of Sixth and Colorado and amended the parking requirement to 10 spaces (including two handicapped). Outcome: approved (ordinance adopted with amendment).
- Letter of engagement with Crawford & Associates (Item 6e) — Council accepted a letter of engagement with Crawford & Associates to provide accounting support services (preparation assistance for audit documents, bank reconciliations and related accounting advice). Staff clarified Crawford & Associates are not the external auditors. Outcome: approved (engagement accepted).
- Executive session items and settlement with Chisholm Trail Development LLC — Following executive session, the council approved a first amendment to the sales-tax rebate agreement dated Feb. 16, 2015, expanding the defined project area and modifying incentive caps contingent on recruitment metrics. The council also approved a settlement and mutual release in the lawsuit Chisholm Trail Development LLC v. City of Chickasha and the Chickasha Municipal Authority (case CJ2021-230) and authorized execution of the mutual release, including dismissal of the counterclaim. Outcome: approved (amendment and settlement authorized).
