Monrovia to launch Civic Plus recreation registration system Sept. 15; RecPro support ends Sept. 30

The City of Monrovia will switch recreation registration to Civic Plus, a cloud-based, mobile-friendly platform, city staff told the council on Sept. 2.
Heather Sayers, who presented the update, said the current system (RecPro) is obsolete and will no longer be supported at the end of September. The new system offers a mobile-friendly interface, an integrated calendar, facility-availability displays, reminders, surveys and a ticketing feature for events such as Wine, Rock and Monrovia Days.
Sayers said the registration portal will go live Sept. 15, classes begin Sept. 29 and RecPro support sunsets Sept. 30. She described staff training scheduled for Sept. 3 and said the recreation team had prepared online materials and step-by-step guides. The city will also keep printed activity guides at city facilities and make staff available at the community center to help residents set up accounts.
Council members asked about access for seniors and residents without Internet access; Sayers said people can register in person at the community center or by phone and staff will assist with account setup and registrations. She said the public website will support multiple-language translation options under development.
City staff also reported a $50,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to support the Walk, Bike, Roll event and related safe‑routes-to-school outreach. The grant is intended to expand promotion and participation in active-transportation events planned for May, staff said.
Staff urged residents who need help to call or visit the community center; a printed activity guide will be available at public facilities for those who prefer a paper format.
