Sen. Hurtado’s district representative briefs council on senior outreach, sets ladder truck ceremony date

Roxanne Serna, district representative for state Sen. Melissa Hurtado, told the Kingsburg City Council on Sept. 3 that staff and local officials continue to work with seniors at Vulcan Village on ongoing issues and that some problems are outside local and state control.
"We've been having some issues," Serna said, noting a meeting with seniors on Aug. 15 that City Manager Alex Henderson, the fire chief, the police chief and at least one council member attended. She said staff and elected officials were working to "find that middle ground" for issues residents face.
Serna also announced a confirmed date for a ladder truck "pushing" ceremony and asked the council to note it on calendars: "We finally secured a date for September 26 at 10AM for the pushing ceremony of the ladder truck," she said. Serna added that other ceremonies were being scheduled in the district and that the Sept. 26 event is the official date for this jurisdiction.
Serna closed by saying she will continue to work with seniors and thanked the council members and staff who have participated in outreach. The council did not take formal action on the update during the meeting.
