Gettysburg Area SD unveils new stadium scoreboard; sponsorships have recouped $245,000

The Gettysburg Area School District reported that a new stadium scoreboard is installed and fully operational, and district leaders said sponsorship sales have covered the scoreboard’s cost.

Board member Belinda said the scoreboard was "up and operational as of August 29, our first first football game of the season" and that the district had an "approximate not to exceed cost of about 245,000." She credited staff outreach for securing sponsorship revenue and encouraged community members to consider advertising spots.

The board said the district has sold sponsorships that, to date, have recouped the roughly $245,000 cost. Belinda said there are five "anchor partners" on the bottom of the scoreboard and three "founding partners." She said additional sponsor slots remain and that a Google form and social posts will be used for sign-ups.

Dr. Metzer, who congratulated Vanessa for outreach efforts, said the graphics and installation looked polished. A board member who identified himself as "Mister Henzer" also praised the scoreboard and asked whether the district should develop policies for scoreboard usage; Belinda replied that current policies should address today's needs and that any future issues would be brought forward through the policy process.

District staff said additional training is planned so students can operate the scoreboard as part of learning and operations once everything is fully configured, and staff members Kevin, Josh, Maria and Cody were thanked for technical and logistical support.

The board did not take a formal vote on policy changes at the meeting; members discussed the possibility of drafting usage policies if needs arise.
