Council schedules hearings and committee meetings; multiple items held or withdrawn

Councilors used the study session to report the status of numerous agenda items, to hold or withdraw specific items and to announce dates for public hearings and committee meetings.
Councilor Mitchell said items 23 through 30 were generally ready; item 25 will be held for a committee meeting tentatively scheduled for Sept. 17 at 12:30 p.m. Mitchell said the public hearing on the related topic will occur Sept. 17 in the evening, followed by a committee meeting at least two days later. Councilor Hogan said items 34 through 39 are at various stages; several (37, 38 and 39) will be scheduled for committee meetings and are housing tax-exemption agreements that the council intends to vet in committee.
Councilor Williams said items 40 through 53 are ready except item 45, which will be held and discussed after the session. Councilor Jones Rausser said items 54 through 59 are generally ready but that item 55 will be held because the council is still awaiting a resolution. Michelle Spanski, Deputy Commissioner of Neighborhood Development, told the council staff is awaiting the final CERA resolution and a draft agreement; once those documents are ready staff will schedule the related meeting.
Councilor Majok said items 60 and 61 will proceed with a public hearing (advertisement clarification) and a committee meeting two days later; item 61 includes an at-large appointment to fill a Citizens Review Board seat. Councilor Nave said item 62 is being held because the expected resignation letter was not received; staff said without the resignation the council would need to place a removal item on an agenda to proceed.
Separately, Councilor Gathers told the clerk that item 31 will be held, item 32 withdrawn and item 33 is ready. Councilors also asked the administration for a concise list of job vacancies across city departments to share with the public; staff said the information is not easily obtained now but can be compiled once the city’s new human-capital-management system is in place.
The study session contained no final adoptions of the items discussed; most items were reported as “ready,” “held” or scheduled for future hearings or committee review.
