Middleton designates city as JustServe partner; council authorizes mayor to sign proclamation

The City Council authorized the mayor to sign a proclamation designating Middleton as a JustServe city, joining a network that allows local organizations to post volunteer opportunities on justserve.org and connects residents to those opportunities.
Ann Marie, a community volunteer working with JustServe, described the platform during the public meeting. "JustServe is...justserve.org, where organizations can put opportunities onto this website and have volunteers then volunteer for opportunities that they put on on the JustServe site," she said, explaining that the service is free to communities and is supported by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints as a humanitarian offering.
Council members and staff described existing local use of the platform by the Middleton Food Pantry, the Chamber of Commerce (Fourth of July and fall festival volunteers), Greater Middleton Parks and Rec, Idaho Youth Ranch, local schools and nursing homes. Councilman Chris Jansen and others said the platform makes it easier for residents to find opportunities that match their skills.
The council voted to authorize the mayor to sign the proclamation and to waive the associated administrative steps; staff said the proclamation would be sent to JustServe headquarters so Middleton could receive the designation and associated materials (press templates, a banner for early adopters and a local 'hero' award program).
A motion to authorize the mayor to sign the proclamation passed by voice vote.
