Hubbardston planning board fills committee seats, asks clerk to process appointments

The Town of Hubbardston Planning Board on Sept. 16 nominated board members to represent the town on several regional and municipal committees and instructed staff to coordinate formal appointment paperwork with the town clerk and Select Board.
Christopher Monroe said he would like to continue as the town’s representative to the Montachusett Regional Planning Commission (MRPC). Peter Carpenter volunteered to serve on the Montachusett Joint Transportation Committee (MJTC) and also agreed to serve as the Planning Board’s representative to the Affordable Housing Committee. Francois volunteered to serve on the Community Preservation Committee (CPC). The Capital Improvement Planning Committee (CIPC) seat remained open for follow-up; the board asked staff to contact members not present to fill remaining slots. Leanne said the appointment form must go to the Select Board and that appointed members must be sworn in.
Board members emphasized these committee appointments are important because the committees often rely on planning-board expertise for capital, transportation and housing recommendations. Christopher Monroe noted these are meaningful commitments despite sounding ex officio.
Separately, the board accepted a brief written report from Al summarizing a recent public listening session on a sand-pit overlay and asked that the report be added to the meeting record. The board also noted there is an advisory group meeting for the sand-pit project scheduled on the ninth and that it will report back to the board.
