Council approves carryover of LED lighting grant funds to complete conversion work

The City Council approved an amendment on Sept. 2 to the general fund budget to carry forward remaining grant funds from fiscal 2024–25 so conversion of certain municipal facilities to LED lighting can be completed.
Staff said the city received about $91,000 in grant funding last fiscal year to convert lighting in specific facilities to LED. Roughly half the planned work was completed in the last fiscal year; the budget amendment moves the remaining grant funds into the current fiscal year so the outstanding work can be finished.
Ken Arnold, a city staffer present to answer questions, told the council he did not have a figure for cumulative energy savings from LED conversion but confirmed the city keeps prior meters and billing data to track operating-cost reductions.
The council approved the budget amendment as part of a block vote later in the meeting. No additional public comment or contingency conditions were recorded for this item.
Staff will execute the fund transfer and complete the remaining LED conversions under the previously awarded grant.
