The Coffey County Board of Commissioners approved the Road and Bridge superintendent’s requests to solicit proposals for the county's 2026 biannual bridge inspection, to solicit normal bids for seasonal restocking of de-icing salt to be delivered FOB to the county shop, and designated Oct. 13–18, 2025, as fall cleanup week with published notice and requested fee waivers for landfill disposal that week.
The board authorized issuing the bridge-inspection request for proposals to a short list of firms the county has used in recent cycles; staff noted the biannual inspection is a statutory requirement performed approximately every 24 months and that the last full inspection cycle cost roughly $30,000 in previous work.
The salt solicitation will be for deliveries to the county shop with purchases paid from the Road and Bridge fund. Commissioners also approved public notice and waived landfill fees for fall cleanup week; the county clerk will publish the notice as required.
All motions passed by voice vote. Commissioners also discussed routine operational items, including possible temporary construction entrances on county roads and scheduling inspections for projects in the field.
