Commission approves purchase of new Osage ambulance at $321,210

The Finney County Board of County Commissioners approved purchase of a new ambulance for the county’s Emergency Medical Services on Sept. 2, voting to authorize procurement of an Osage-model ambulance for $321,210.
Kenny Smith, Finney County EMS director, told commissioners the county maintains a fleet of six ambulances and three administrative vehicles and budgets $275,000 per year toward replacement ambulances. Smith said delivery windows from manufacturers currently place delivery as late as mid-2027 to mid-2028, depending on manufacturer and chassis selection.
Smith presented three quotes: an Osage model at $321,210 (staff recommendation), a Lifeline model at $341,124, and a Medix model at $356,477. Commissioners asked whether the chassis would be diesel or gasoline; Smith said the intent is a diesel chassis and that most of the county’s existing ambulances are Osage units on diesel chassis. Commissioners also discussed payment timing; staff said most payment occurs on delivery and that the county has funds in the equipment reserve to cover the purchase.
After discussion, the board approved the purchase of the Osage model ambulance by voice vote.
