County counselor and project staff described Change Order No. 45 as related to additional wiring and receptacles required for pod A lighting and telecommunications and said the amount will be deducted from the project's construction contingency. The board approved the change order and the chair said the guaranteed maximum price for the project was not changed by this action.
Commissioners also approved Application No. 21, a contractor draw of $62,914.30, to be paid from the jail construction project fund. County staff reviewed a line-by-line breakdown, noting smaller payments to specialty subcontractors (for example, payments listed for security, technology, painting and flooring) and said some earlier change orders netted credits that reduced other payout amounts.
Project staff said no substantive board action on phase 2 scope was taken at this meeting, but that design options and bid alternates for the secured corridor and other elements are being finalized; staff plans to present those alternates to the board in the next one-to-two weeks so commissioners can select options and move forward with procurement.
The board approved both the change order and the payment application by voice vote.
