Oregon State University extension staff briefed the Josephine County Board of Commissioners on a proposed intergovernmental agreement to restore local extension services, create a county advisory council and support hiring a county-dedicated position for 4‑H and extension programming.
OSU representative Jamie Davis described a 15-member advisory council drawn from across the county to advise program delivery and said the recruitment process for a county-funded position is underway. The agreement language added two provisions during August revisions: a requirement to ‘‘engage in advisory council composed of county residents to guide vision, development and implementation of OSU extension programs’’ and a commitment to collaborate with a designated OSU representative to advise delivery of OSU educational programs.
Commissioners expressed broad support but sought a change to the termination language. Commissioner Black asked that the agreement include an explicit ‘‘termination for convenience’’ clause allowing either party to end the IGA with 30 days’ written notice; OSU staff agreed to route the requested revision back through OSU contracting for review and fast turnaround.
