Klamath County highlights new juvenile residential center and state‑funded KCR program

Klamath County commissioners and staff on Sept. 2 recognized the July 17 grand opening of the Klamath Crimson Rose (KCR) Center, a new residential treatment home and program for teen girls located on the juvenile department grounds.
Dan Golden, juvenile director, described KCR as a residential treatment program that includes a newly constructed group home, an education center, counseling spaces, gardens and a recreation area. County staff said the building was funded by the Oregon Legislature with grants from the Oregon Lottery and matched in part with local opioid settlement funds.
Since 2017, county staff reported, the state of Oregon has committed $15,000,000 to KCR construction. Klamath County contributed more than $1,000,000 in matched dollars from opioid settlement funds, staff said. Golden was recognized as part of the county’s monthly staff success story and for his role in the KCR opening.
County commissioners congratulated Golden and juvenile department staff for completing the project and noted the program’s role in providing residential treatment for teen girls. The board recognized long‑service employees in the same agenda segment: Golden for 35 years with the county and Helen Hankins for 45 years with the library.
County staff said KCR provides residential treatment services on the juvenile department grounds; details about capacity or operational costs were not provided during the meeting.
