The proclamation noted that recovery month promotes prevention, treatment and recovery for substance use and mental disorders, celebrates people in recovery and recognizes service providers. County staff read the proclamation and commissioners invited recovery advocates to accept it.
Tony (co‑founder of Related in Recovery) and Ryan Lobel (president of Relay to Recovery) spoke after the proclamation. Tony thanked the board and said he has seen community impact through recovery work; he told commissioners he celebrated 30 years of sobriety last month. Lobel thanked the board for continued support of recovery efforts.
Commissioners encouraged residents to participate in local recovery events and acknowledged community service providers who work on behavioral‑health issues. The proclamation text calls on residents to recognize that prevention and treatment are effective and that recovery is possible in many forms.
