Huntsville board hears timeline for indoor baseball-softball facility; foundation donation acknowledged

HUNTSVILLE, Ark. — At the Sept. 2 Huntsville School District board meeting, district staff briefed members on construction progress at the new indoor baseball and softball facility and acknowledged a foundation donation supporting the project.
The superintendent reported that interior sheetrock work and painting of CMU and plywood were finished and that the baseball and softball field work — grading, hydroseeding and netting — is scheduled for completion in September. Staff said turf installation was to begin the week of the meeting and that the facility should be substantially complete by the next monthly board meeting.
"So inside the area, the plywood is being painted. Baseball and softball field is set to be complete the September," the superintendent said. The board was invited to tour the facility before the next meeting.
Board members and staff thanked the Buck Vaughn Foundation for a donation that staff said helped make the project possible. The presenter said the contractor (identified as Timco in meeting notes) proposed to arrange a board tour; staff said they would coordinate a date and warned the board some short-notice tours were not feasible.
The board did not take formal action during the update. District staff said they expect to schedule a site tour for board members this month or before the October meeting and will provide a follow-up once the turf installation and final site work are complete.
Speakers who addressed the construction update included the superintendent and a Timco representative, and the Buck Vaughn Foundation was identified in board remarks as a donor to the project.
