Board approves Southeast Tech 2030 strategic plan, sets goal leads and metrics

The Southeast Technical College board approved the college’s new five-year strategic plan, “Southeast Tech 2030: A vision for growth, innovation, and impact,” and reaffirmed the existing vision statement.
Core elements of the plan presented by college leadership include four strategic goals: 1) align academic delivery with workforce demands and student needs; 2) strengthen student success (including exploring campus housing options and holistic basic-needs supports); 3) enhance employee capacity and organizational culture; and 4) build stronger external connections with the community. Each goal will have an executive sponsor (a vice president), a goal lead (faculty or staff), and a goal team of faculty and staff. External consultants will support implementation planning for each goal team.
The plan lists metrics for each goal: employment rates of graduates, percent employed in state and in-field, cost-to-earnings return, annual unduplicated enrollment, fall-to-spring and fall-to-fall retention, unduplicated graduates (a Board of Technical Education metric with a target of roughly 950 unique graduates by 2030), employee engagement scores, and a future community engagement score to be developed.
Board members discussed using the strategic plan to inform the college budget and fundraising; the Southeast Tech Foundation is preparing a comprehensive fundraising campaign aligned with the plan. Trustees moved and approved the strategic plan during the meeting.
